The Pleasure of Blogging

It’s taken me a little while to allow myself to fully indulge in the world of Blogging, the Blogosphere, Blog Land, but I’m getting there.

I’ve realised that blogging, to get it good and to really make the most of it and enjoy it, takes time. Sometimes, a hell of a lot of it. You’re nurturing your own character through your blog, massaging your own self-discovery, at the same time as discovering other people.

In the Blog world where there are so many different opinions out there, you’re bound not to connect with all of them. At the birth of my blog (10 months ago) I found that there was such a variety of blogs that, though I appreciated them, many – probably 80% – weren’t ones that would really catch my attention or inspire me. I could read them, enjoy them, and I thought that was what blogging was like. But I have since discovered, through a more dedicated search for blogs akin to my own, that there are some brilliant ones out there that are well suited to my likes, my hobbies and my humour. (I love a funny post!) Bloggers can be wonderful, talented people!

So what I have found over the last couple of months – having wanted to give more of my time to the blogging community as well as the progression of my own blog – is that you can make great connections with people over a few simple comments. Some people pour their heart and soul into their posts. It’s cathartic, often for blogger and reader! Sometimes I wish I could do that, but I know I have familiar eyes and ears that may not/should not know my deepest darkest secrets – hello Mother, Father, and perhaps Nana too – I appreciate your support and will continue to keep things clean!

That’s the thing though, a blog is usually out there to be read. If you want yours to be read, then read others too. I have found that my blog is steadily getting a consistent flow of readers through each day and my heart leaps with joy each time I get a comment, a like or, the biggie, a new follower!

The most precious thing you have to give is your time. Give it and hope you’ll get it back!

  1. Yes, I too have fine-tuned those I follow to appease my own tastes now. And I totally agree with you….every comment is a gem to be savoured!

I’m still fine-tuning, but I get it now, I get it! Yes, every comment is wonderful šŸ™‚

  2. Glad you’re learning and enjoying yourself here. Blogging shapes us as much as our life shapes it. =)

Totally agree. I feel happily comfortable here now which is a lovely thing šŸ™‚ Thanks for your comment!

It’s certainly a process. I’m trying to narrow down the number of blogs that I’ll actually connect with most of the posts of. The pretty photography blogs I leave in there too, because, well, pretty pictures are easy šŸ™‚ I saw your blog and…well, I didn’t connect with the bug post. I hate those…what are they, fungus flies? The ones that appear when you overwater house plants. I can get OCD about watering plants, and don’t know how much is too much, so I’ve …killed some plants. I had nothing to offer.

But I liked your writing style, so I dug deeper and saw this post! It’s so true, what you say about a few simple comments. I’ve noticed that a couple of comments that confirm, “I’ve taken in your thoughts, and here’s my response…” It means so much to people! They really have this dam of expression that you crack through when you post your … little two cents. Anyway, will be looking forward to what you write in the future. Good luck with the bug problem!

That’s really lovely to hear, thank you. Yes, it’s so true. The best way to enjoy blogging to the full is to find blogs that you connect with too, whether it be style, topic, or just quirky curiosity! I do find it tough, there is just so much out there, but when you find a good blog and stick with it, it’s a great experience! Thank you so much for reading and I hope I can entertain you with future posts šŸ™‚ much appreciated! (The bugs are going doooown!)

Would it be bad form if I root for the bugs? No one else is, and I feel bad for them.

No, you go ahead – they’re winning anyway, I just don’t want them to win quite so much!
