I’m a writer who has been working in publishing for almost a year now. After finishing uni, I was a nanny for a 18 months. That was interesting… I’m also a writer, an artist, a reader, and a keen baker.
Having grown up in the middle of the country side, where the nearest bus was a 45 minute walk (yes walk, Mummy and Daddy won’t take you everywhere) and even then the bus comes every half an hour, London is quite a change. Thankfully I had three years studying in Bristol to warm me up to the London life. I now love it, but it’s a bit of a love/hate relationship. London is bipolar. Beautiful when the sun is shining and broodingly atmospheric when it all turns grey in the mist and the rain. But if you feel unhappy, London cannot always pick you up, in fact, sometimes it will put you on a late bus home because the rail strikes are on and a drunk middle aged builder will come and sit next to you (even though the bus is near empty) and will chat you up. Thankfully, that isn’t a common occurrence, but London keeps you on your toes, perhaps sprinting away from its threats, but let’s always put it down to experience; you live and you learn; what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger… you get the point.
How do you eat an elephant?
Meet Evelyn Blake, she’s been lucky in love, but unfortunately, her luck has just run out. Here she lives in its aftermath.
Evelyn is small and pretty, but in being small and pretty she is often called nice and cute, which, for a young twenty-something who wants to make herself a new, fabulous life in her new home, London (aka, The Big Smoke) well, it’s just damn annoying! Who wants nice and cute? Who wants a domestic cat when you could have a tiger?
With a heavy heart (which is stuck together with some dodgy, dry sellotape) and a sharp sense of humour, Evelyn Blake realises just how important friends are along the road to fully fledged singledom. Moreover, she has to realise how important she is, and discover that she is a strong, independent woman of substance… and all of that. However, what happens for Evelyn Blake when a love just won’t let her leave it behind?
